Luke 6:38 says, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over........."
The pattern that Christ established under the New Covenant is that when you give to the work of God (to help build Him an army in the nations of the world; to reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ, to support various ministries, or to help the poor and needy) there is no reason you should worry or fear that you will suffer lack. Jesus simply said: Give, and it will be given to you.
The proportion that you will receive is according to the measure that you use when you give. Jesus said: "For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. If you give liberally in proportion to how God has blessed and prospered you, then you will receive a liberal return. On the other hand, if you give very little in proportion to how God has blessed you, you can expect a small return.
When you give to God you can expect to receive from Him, not according to a human's limited ability but according to God's unlimited resources.
